New PHP development environment option in Bitnami

We are excited to announce the Bitnami Nginx Stack, the latest addition to our Infrastructure stacks. The infrastructure stacks provide complete, fully-integrated and ready to run development environments for the most popular runtimes, frameworks and servers, from PHP with Apache to Node.js with MongoDB, among others.

The Bitnami Nginx Stack provides a development environment for PHP with Nginx and MySQL, along with other supporting components. Get your LEMP environment (WEMP if you are using Windows and MEMP on Mac OS X) in just a few clicks with Bitnami and learn how to deploy a PHP application on top of it.

Check Out What's Coming in OpenERP 8 (Odoo)

The new features and modules that OpenERP 8 includes are creating quite a bit of excitement leading up to the upcoming release. In order to make it clear that OpenERP has grown beyond its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool, the application is being released with a new name, Odoo. In order to give Bitnami users a sneak-preview of the v8 release, we have released a stack with the latest development release.

Install the website builder or the gamification module through the web interface and start checking out this early version. Recent configuration improvements to all of our Python-based packages will also give you important performance improvements on Unix.

Discourse

Discourse 1.0 is Out!

As Discourse users ourselves, we're happy to announce that Discourse 1.0 is now available from Bitnami! With this release, Discourse has smoothed out all of the rough edges, and is now ready and safe for production use.

We have been using it to run the Bitnami Community discussion site for close to a year now and have been incredibly happy with it, even pre-1.0 release, so we highly recommend that you check out v1.0.

Meet Magento NYC

Updated Ubuntu Bitnami Cloud Hosting Servers

We have released a new version of our Ubuntu Bitnami Cloud Hosting servers, rev 31. This new version includes upgraded components like Ruby which has been upgraded to 2.0.0-p481 and the ability to run the most recent version of the Bitnami-packaged Ruby applications on top of it.

Other components like the Apache HTTP server, MySQL, PHP, MongoDB and Node.js has been also upgraded.

Which application should we add to the Bintami library?

According to our users and thanks to the project's efforts to promote it, Pimcore, a content management platform, is currently leading the contest for which app we will add to the Bitnami library next. The SilverStripe CMS and framework is not too far behind and there are still a few days left for this contest iteration, though.
