Bootcamp Success Story!
We just wrapped up our first ever Bitnami Bootcamp, an intensive month-long course on the latest cloud technologies. The 14 hand-selected participants learned about everything from Angular to Docker from Bitnami engineering leads and guest lecturers and are now ready to hit the ground running. We're thrilled to have 6 of them joining the Bitnami team!
As part of the Bitnami Open Source Leaders interview series, we interviewed Dave Page from PostgreSQL to find out more about one of the leading open source databases. We discuss PostgreSQL vs the competition, how the community works, what's to come and more.
With several new engineers on the team, we're making a major push to expand the Bitnami library, and we're reaching beyond open source to offer commercial apps as well. Interested in getting your commercial app onto Bitnami to reach hundreds of thousands of users and add support for every major cloud platform?
With over 100 Bitnami applications, we understand that it is hard to keep up to date with all your favorite applications. Now there is a solution, our Bitnami Favorites tool. This tool allows you to receive updates for every one of your favorite Bitnami apps with just a one click.
Protect yourself from Shellshock (Bash Issue) Now!
On Wednesday September 24th, a critical vulnerability was discovered in the bash shell, dubbed Shellshock. This vulnerability affected most server software and it is essential that you take steps to upgrade your servers as soon as possible. Visit our wiki entry linked below to learn how to get your servers patched. If you have any questions about this bash security issue, please post them to our community page.
According to our users and thanks to the project's efforts to promote it, OpenProject, a web-based project management software, is currently leading the contest for which app we will add to the Bitnami library next. The SilverStripe CMS and framework is not too far behind and there are still a few days left for this contest iteration, though. Vote to help decide which app will be packaged next!
If working as part of an international team, shipping software that improves the lives of millions of users and learning the ins and outs of all modern technology stacks excites you, consider joining the Bitnami team!
We are currently hiring for key roles within our team that will help shape the future of Bitnami. If you feel that you are up for the challenge, we would love to hear from you!
